What’s Your “Body Bank Account” Worth ?
Just how much do you have in your “body bank account”? I’m not referring to actual cash in the bank, but another kind of account – the kind Karen Lunda, Physical Therapist and Ergonomic Consultant, explains to her clients. She insists that you need to make regular deposits in your body bank account to avoid physical, mental, and emotional energy debt. Before you start losing valued energy, it’s essential that you find ways to energize yourself.
Here are a few energizing tips:
1. Twice daily, practice a relaxation or meditative technique. If you aren’t sure how to do this, check out my relaxation MP3. It’s FREE!
Research data states that if you practice two 20-minute relaxation sessions daily, it’s equal to 2 hours of sleep. Try it and prove it to yourself!
2. Take a moment to count your blessings.
Each of us has something to be thankful for, but, too often, we take things for granted! It’s energizing to reflect on all the good things that surround you. Having friends and loved ones to share experiences with enriches your life, as is feeling as if you’ve been loved.
Never overlook your health! If you’re healthy (who doesn’t have an ache here or there?), remind yourself that health comes to you for free (just as my relaxation program). Only when you lose it do you appreciate what you had; then it’s too late.
3. Engage in regular exercise.
Sound familiar? Of course, it does! Sometimes, it’s helpful to remind yourself of how good you feel after exercising, especially when you’ve experienced a long trying day at work. So, even if you feel tired, you want to get into your workout clothes or whatever and do some exercise. You’ll feel so good that you pushed yourself and ignored your immediate feelings. You did something good for yourself.
4. Meet up with a friend.
Not just any friend, but someone who makes you feel good about yourself!
Don’t like any of these approaches? That’s not the focus of this blog. Rather, the message is that you need to find alternatives you like that result in replenishing your bank account. When you do, you have more to give to others!
